Everyday adventures
Going on an adventure does not have to mean tons of planning, hours of travel just to get to the startingpoint and big challenges in the form of hundreds of kilometers of trail and several days of hiking. Adventure can also be found much closer to home. All you have to do is step outside your door and pick a direction. Now I am lucky enough to live less than a five minuite walk away from the forrest, but even if you live in the middle of a city there is stil adventure to be found. Here are some tips on how to get a little more adventure into your everyday life.
1: Pick a direction
Literally pick a direction (peferrably a direction you have not explored to thuroughly before), start walking and see what you find. If that sounds too broad you can try walking in the opposite direction of what you normaly do, or maybe try turning down that street or trail you have been walking past every day but don’t really know where leads. Try to pay attention to you surroundings. What vegetation do you see? Are there any animals? Listen to the sounds, what do you hear?
2: Take a detour
If you are going somewhere and have some extra time, why not take a detour? Or maybe try taking a different rute home from work? An other posibility is walking in stead of taking the bus or jumping of the bus a few stops earlier and walking the rest of the way. If you are driving, you can park the car somwhere further away and then walk to your destination.
3: Bring your dinner outside…
…Or any other meal for that matter. Try making dinner on a fire or camping stove. To make it easier to cook when you get out you can do most of the prep work inside. If you live somewere where you can not make a fire, and you don not own a camping stove you can make the meal inside and then bring it with you outside to eat. No matter how you do it food always tastes better outside.
4: Go out even if the weather is not perfect
I love going hiking when the weather is less than ideal. Pouring rain or near blizarding snow, it does not really matter. You don’t have to go far, but getting a feel of the elements from time to time is fantastic. You are probably going to get wet, but it does not matter. After all you are ging back home when you are done and then you can change in to someting dry and warm.
Now this is not a extensive list. There are many other ways to find a little adventure between work and the other things you have to do every week, but it is a startingpoint. So now it is time to go out and find yourself a tiny adventure.
